Antony scored his first goal for MU after 10 months of failure

The Brazilian player scored for MU in a friendly match with Burnley at Old Trafford on January 24.

According to M.E.N, Antony scored for Manchester United but from the penalty spot. In the end, the “Red Devils” still lost 1-3 to Burnley in a friendly match without spectators at Old Trafford. The British press describes that this is a match with the participation of a number of players who have just returned from injury and a young squad.

Antony scored his first goal since April 2023 but it was only a penalty kick.

As for Antony, he has not had any goals for MU in the past 10 months, counting in official tournaments. The last time the player born in 2000 scored for his parent team was against Nottingham Forest in round 31 of the Premier League in April 2023. Anyway, scoring from the penalty spot may help the former Brazilian player regain his confidence.

Notably, this is the second time that Man Utd lost to coach Vincent Kompany’s team in a closed friendly match. The previous time took place in August at the beginning of the season and Ten Hag’s team even lost 0-3.

In front of MU is the FA Cup fourth round match against Newport County on January 28. It will be a disaster for the “Red Devils” if they cannot defeat their opponents from the 4th division.

MU’s recent performance is not very positive. Erik ten Hag and his team only won 2 of the last 8 matches, one of which was against 3rd place team, Wigan Athletic in the third round of the FA Cup, the other match was against Aston Villa in the Premier League.

Having been eliminated from the Champions League and Carabao Cup and currently ranked 7th in the Premier League, the FA Cup is currently the most feasible arena for MU to focus on racing for the championship.
