MU fans were very angry with Antony, even though he scored the goal in the Red Devils’ 4-2 victory over Newport County to help the home team enter the 5th round of the FA Cup.

But the League Two team (England’s 4th division) almost made a comeback by scoring 2 goals in a row. Their first goal was a stunning long-range shot from Bryn Morris. But what’s worth mentioning is the second goal.

Accordingly, Antony was assigned to accompany Newport’s Adam Lewis. The Brazilian player partly redeemed himself 20 minutes later by restoring Man United’s lead. He scored from close range after Luke Shaw’s curling shot hit the post and the ball went to the Brazilian. This is also Antony’s first goal in the 2023/24 season. Before that, it was Antony who assisted Bruno to open the score and that was also Antony’s first assist since the beginning of the season.

At minute 90’+4, Rasmus Hojlund scored the winning goal 4-2 for Man United. The Red Devils advance to the fifth round of the FA Cup and will meet the winner of the match between Nottingham Forest and Bristol.
